Credit for using your own bags

I believe Aldis store had the right idea on making people pay for the bags that they use. Now Target, Rainbow Foods and CVS are getting in the groove by paying you to use your own reusable bags. They don't care if they are from Cub Foods or Menards, just that you bring in a reusable bag.

Rainbow and Target will give you a 5 cent credit for each reusable bag you use. It can all add up in the end.

CVS has a different program, but I think that this is a great money maker even if you have to buy the .99 tag first. Purchase a Green Bag Tag as pictured for $.99 (check by the registers) and then clip it to your own reusable bag. Each time you choose to bag your purchase in your reusable bag, the cashier will scan the green bag tag. Every fourth time, you will earn $1 ECB back. I have heard also that if you visit more than one CVS store and scan your tag, that you will get credit.

Here’s what the tag says:

“To earn Extra bucks for a transaction in store, your Extra care card, green bag tag, and reusable bag must be presented w/ purchase at checkout. Limit of one green tag use/scan per day per household. Every 4th purchase your ECB will print at the bottom of your cash register receipt as a $1 coupon good for your next purchase. Extra bucks can be used until the exp. date shown on the coupon.”
