Several people have confirmed it working for them, though it did not work for me as I already have a subscription. Plus, I have a feeling that it is for certain areas.

Yep, I can confirm. I live in a St. Paul suburb and I received this flyer. I am now receiving the mpls. paper. Overall (I know not always) they have better coupons. I have not received my gift card yet though, I need to call them.
